Farmer accused of murdering wife

A 44-year-old farmer, Enoch Kusi, who allegedly accused his 47-year-old wife, Ama Kwakyewaa, of­ infidelity, has butchered her to death in the bush at Akyem Adwafo in the Akyemansa District in the  Eastern Region.

The suspect, believed to have taken refuge in the neighborhood, is currently being pursued by the youth of the community who have mounted an intensive search for him to face justice.

Briefing the Daily Graphic at Adwafo yesterday, Osei Amponsah, a close relative of the deceased, said a misunderstanding ensued between the couple about three months ago, compelling the woman to pack bag and baggage and moved to her family house.

He said in the morning of last Tuesday, Kwakyewaa informed him that she was going to the farm.

Mr. Amponsah said a  few hours later, the deceased’s daughter, Yaa Beebi, rushed to his house screaming that her father had gruesomely killed her mother in the farm by hitting her head several times with a club.

According to Mr Amponsah, he invited three other men to accompany him to the scene where they found Kwakyewaa lying unconscious in a pool of blood.

He said they rushed Kwakyewaa to the Adwafo community clinic where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

Giving the background to the incident, Mr. Amponsah said about a month ago Kusi rushed to deceased’s house and attempted to kill her by brutally assaulting her but her neighbors intervened.

When contacted, the Akyem Ofoase District Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Bawa, confirmed the matter and said investigations were underway

He said the suspect was on the run, and as such the police had mounted a search for him.
